Carnivorous plants are miracles of nature. They live in places where the soil is poor in nutrients, being forced to survive through a unique strategy in the plant world: you capture animals they eat.
Carnivorous plants appear to be only the fruits of a rich imagination, although they are very real. Are grouped into six families, comprising 450 species, can be found in all parts of the globe.
Food capture mechanisms are different, distinguished five types: pitcher trap, trap squib, sticky trap, vesicular trap, trap shed, but between the type of trap and family they belong there is no connection.
Pitchers: Plants that belong to this category, managed to attract prey through all sorts of tricks. Some colors attract insects by the edges and internal walls, others with sweet sap. Plants leaves the pitcher as set forth at the edges with some downward walls: they prevent insects to catch the edge and escape. Another reason for the victim not escaped the plant, is that sweet sap contains substances which confuse insects.
Some insects survive but succeed in getting on such conditions. Mosquito larvae of a species Wzcomzia smitbii actually Sarracenia purpurea live in pitcher plants, entering adult forms and out without problems. Misumenops spider species is an inhabitant frequent pitcher.
